Setting Up Factory

All factories must be registered with the Factory Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labour. Application for factory registration (together with layout plans of factory) must be submitted to the Chief Inspector of Factories in the prescribed form 2 months before the factory operates.
The Factories Act governs the business that operates the factory. In addition, the Factories (Medical Examination) Regulations, 1985 protect workers exposed to special risks, such as chemical and physical health hazards such as mercury, noise and compressed air.
